Go gently through this world
Climb mountains slowly.
When you dive into a deep lake,
swim softly.
These days, in deep snow,
we wait for spring;
and the small flowers come quietly…
there is no need to rush.
Buds will uncurl
and creatures re-create;
no urgency;
the snows will melt, ice crack,
hands will return to doing.
We shall watch
weighed down by doubting age,
will hobble through closed rooms
waiting…
