Celadon tea set

so green, so graceful,
patterned with the lines of plants
reminding me of dollies’ tea parties
small plates, small cups, small teapot.
But this one for adults
And small to emphasise no haste —
Two sips per tiny cup.
Delicate teapot, in which the leaves
are not to stew — one minute only
then pour into pale green jug.
Quiet now; this is born of a ceremony
restrained and thoughtful,
centuries old
pale tea in pale jade bowl.
