Always my darling

Each year I re-remember the day when you were born.
Your tiny life laid on my skin; blurry eyes look into mine.
Years ago when you were still living in this land
I wrote how time had moved you from my world;
not from my life and never from my love.
I said: my son, my daughter,
blown about the winds of the world
droplets in the palm of my hand
how every moment dear you are for me
how much, because of you, I understand.
Time does not alter this
though distances make strange.
The skin grows older but the eyes grow clearer.
You have a daughter now: new patterns form
